Outdoor painting in formal garden

Landscape Painting for All

Who are these classes are for? My workshops are intended both for those who have painted a little and would like to explore some new ways of approaching their painting and for absolute beginners. In my experience I find that beginners will also receive encouragement and assistance from the more experienced participants. If you have any queries please call Judith at 087 3543274 or fill in the form on the contact page on this site.

Where are they held? The first workshop will be along the banks of the Grand Canal near the 13th lock. The setting is a pastoral landscape, close to the Lyons estate, and of course the waterway adds to the interest. It is possible to use public transport to avail of the workshop as the studio is little more than 500m from Hazelhatch & Celbridge train station.

What to expect: For the workshop we will use the landscape of Kildare as our inspiration, so be prepared for all types of weather! The workshops will involve a mix of demonstrations by Judith; painting and sketching on location at some of the locality’s most beautiful spots (weather permitting) and indoor studio based work to develop and finish initial studies and paintings. Over the course of the workshops we will look at elements such as composition and perspective, colour and movement, and how they contribute to successful landscape paintings.

Each day starts at 10.00am and finishes at 4.30pm with a break of an hour for lunch.

What to bring:  Participants are asked to bring their own materials and easel. However materials easels, canvas, paints can be provided if booked in advance. While I predominately work in oils, participants are welcome to use watercolours or acrylics.

Painting mountains outdoors

Painting outdoors was so much fun! I met some wonderful people and with some great advice from Judith, I even created artwork I can hang on my wall!
